Willingboro firefighters responded to, and quickly extinguished, a house fire on the evening of January 27th. At 6:42 pm the department was dispatched to 46 Buttercup Lane for a reported bedroom fire. Lieutenant Ferrell arrived first and found a two story home with smoke coming from a front bedroom on the first floor. Engine 1613 was on scene in four minutes and the crew immediately went to work on extinguishing the fire.

Firefighter Centrone deployed an 1 3/4" hose line, and entered the home with Captain Sitzenstock. As other crews arrived on scene, Firefighter Rydarowski entered the home and backed up Firefighter Centrone and Captain Sitzenstock. The crew was able to quickly extinguish the fire and keep it from spreading out of the bedroom where it start. Firefighter Rydarowski used a hand tool to pull down the ceiling and walls in the bedroom to search for any hidden fire. Due to the quick extinguishment of the fire, Lieutenant Ferrell was able to place the fire under control at 6:55 pm.

Units from Beverly and Burlington Township Fire Departments were on scene to assist with a search of the home. They also assisted with removing smoke and heat from the home. The resident of the home was evaluated by Willingboro EMS personnel for smoke inhalation, but she refused transportation to the hospital. All of the home's utilities were disconnected, and the Willingboro Township Construction Official's office determined the residents of the home would not be able to stay there due to the damage from the fire.

The American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist with temporary housing and other provisions for the residents. There were no firefighter injuries as a result of the fire. An investigation was conducted by the Burlington County Fire Marshal's Office. All units were clear of the scene at 9:01 pm.
