By Firefighter Mark Robertson Sr.
March 18, 2015

The department's A Platoon was dispatched to the Burger King on Route 130, Friday, March 13th for the report of a car on fire. The call came into firefighters at 8:29 pm, with several calls reporting the car to be on fire. Engines 1613 and 1611 arrived in five minutes, and Captain Sitzenstock confirmed a car with fire coming from the engine compartment.

Firefighter Centrone used a 1 3/4" hose line to start extinguishing the fire, while firefighter Rydarowski used hand tools to help open the hood of the vehicle. The crew then discovered that the fire had started to make headway into the dashboard area of the car. They used the hose line to prevent the fire from coming further into the inside of the vehicle, while also extinguishing the fire in the engine compartment. The fire was under control in five minutes.

The cause of the fire is unknown and the car sustained heavy damage to the engine compartment. No firefighters or civilians were hurt as a result of the fire. The crews remained on scene until the vehicle was towed from the parking lot. All units were clear at 9:00 pm

Units: Engines 1613 and 1611, and Fire Police 1618

Mutual Aid: Delran Ambulance 2393
