Members of Willingboro's Fire, Emergency Medical, and Police departments attended the annual September 11th "Prayer Service of Remembrance and Peace" at Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County on Sunset Road. The ceremony is held annually to remember those civilians and first responders who were lost on that day 14 years ago, and for the survivors, emergency response, and military personnel who continue to protect citizens throughout our country. The service is conducted at the front of the facility and includes prayers, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the raising of the American Flag to half-staff.
The ceremony started at 12 noon with close to 50 emergency response personnel and hospital staff in attendance. Members of the hospital's Security Department raised the American Flag to half staff. Once the flag was raised, Willingboro Fire Department personnel Captain Gardner, along with Firefighters D. O'Donnell, Robertson, and C. Clark placed a wreath near the flag poles in honor of those who were lost on that day. Retired New York City Fire Department Lieutenant Tom Prin, an Addictions Counselor in the hospital's Behavioral Health Unit, spoke briefly about his experience that day as a member of Rescue 3.
Once the ceremony was completed, members of the emergency services were treated to lunch on behalf of the hospital's cafeteria. The Willingboro Fire Department would like to thank Lourdes Medical Center for their remembrance of September 11th.
