Willingboro firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a fire in the bedroom of a home at 29 Hornblende Lane on the afternoon of August 28th. At 12:53 pm firefighters from Willingboro, Westampton, Mount Laurel, Burlington Township, and Burlington City were called to the home for a reported fire in the bedroom. Engine 1613 was on scene in four minutes and found nothing showing from the exterior of the home. Upon further investigation, Captain Ramsey reported he had smoke and fire in a bedroom on the second floor.

Firefighters E. O'Donnell and Anderson entered the home with a 1 3/4" hose line and hand tools. The firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and start ventilating smoke and heat from the home. Captain Ramsey was able to place the fire under control at 1:05 pm. Fire damage was limited to one room, with smoke and heat damage to a small portion of the second floor. The units from Westampton and Burlington Township were kept on scene to assist with removing burned debris from the home. The remainder of the out of town departments were released by Chief of Department Burnett.

An investigation was completed by the Burlington County Fire Marshal's Office. The fire was determined to be accidental in nature. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries during the fire. All remaining out of town units were released at 1:51 pm, and all Willingboro units were released at 3:11 pm.
