March 31, 2016

Willingboro Firefighters were on hand for the presentation of 25 fire service related books to the Willingboro Public Library. The books were donated to the library on the evening of Wednesday, March 23rd, courtesy of the Hunter's Heroes Foundation. The foundation was created in the memory of Lieutenant Christopher Hunter of the Cinnaminson Fire Department, who passed away suddenly in November of 2014 at the age of 38.

In May of 2015, Chris' wife Claire, along with three firefighters who worked for Lieutenant Hunter; Jim Clancy, Dennis Staples, and Keith Zimecki formed the foundation. The foundation embraces Chris' love for learning more about fire and emergency services. Since the foundation started, it has donated books to the Cinnaminson Library and the Burlington County Library in Westampton. The books include topics on strategy and tactics, officer development, promotional preparation, and many other subjects.

Library Director Christine Hill reached out to the foundation after hearing about their mission. The books that were donated to the libraries are very expensive and hard to find. At the ceremony Ms. Hill explained that the partnership with the foundation was one the library could not pass up. Due to the expense of the book collection, without the donation from the foundation the library would have been unable to purchase the books.

15 personnel from the Willingboro Fire Department were present at the donation ceremony. Firefighters from Evesham, Mount Laurel, Cherry Hill, and the Burlington County Fire Marshals Office were also on hand to support the program. Chief of Department Burnett spoke to the firefighters, family members, and supporters who were on hand for the presentation. He thanked the foundation and library for providing these valuable books for local firefighters. These books will allow local firefighters to further their fire service knowledge by just having a library card.
