By Firefighter Mark Robertson Sr.
July 29, 2016

A storage shed in the backyard of a Pennypacker Park home was completely destroyed by fire on the afternoon of July 11th. The department was dispatched to 39 Peacock Lane at 1:10 pm after the resident noticed the fire while inside of his home. Units that were responding to the incident noticed a column of smoke in the air from several blocks away. Deputy Chief Sitzenstock arrived on scene in five minutes to find the shed fully involved in fire.

Engine 1613 arrived on scene a minute later and went into service. Lieutenant Friddell, along with Firefighters Priest and Centrone, made their way to the backyard with a 1 3/4" hose line and hand tools. Firefighter Priest started to extinguish the fire as Firefighter Centrone used his hand tools to break up the pockets of fire that were in the shed. The crew was able to control the fire in six minutes.

Deputy Chief Sitzenstock requested Public Service Electric to respond and make repairs to a power line that was damaged by the fire. He also requested the Burlington County Fire Marshal to the scene for an investigation. The shed was totally destroyed, along with part of a nearby fence. All units were cleared from the scene at 2:24 pm.

Units: Deputy Chief 1601, Engine 1613, and Fire Police 1618
