November 17, 2016

On the evening of November 8th, Willingboro Fire and EMS personnel were dispatched to Route 130 and Pennypacker Drive for a motor vehicle accident at 7:06 pm. Callers to 911 reported that two cars were involved in the accident, but that nobody appeared to be injured. One of the vehicles was also reported to have smoke coming from under the hood to the engine.

Ambulance 1694 arrived on scene and reported fire coming from the engine compartment of a vehicle that had hit the concrete barrier on the highway. Engine 1613 arrived shortly thereafter and confirmed that the vehicle was on fire. Firefighter Centrone and Lieutenant Friddell pulled a 1 3/4" hose line to start extinguishing the fire. Firefighter Priest used hand tools to open up the doors to the car in case the fire spread to the passenger compartment.

The crew of Engine 1613 was able to extinguish the fire in five minutes. It was also confirmed that there were no injuries as a result of the accident. The Willingboro Police Department had the vehicle towed from the highway. All lanes of traffic were reopened at 8:10 pm.

Units: Engine 1613, Fire Police 1618, and Ambulance 1694
