Two alarms worth of firefighters were needed to extinguish a house fire at 69 Clearwater Drive, in the Country Club Park Section of town on June 14th. The fire was called into 911 at 9:49 am. Several people had dialed 911 to report the fire. Chief of Department Burnett and Engine 1613 arrived at 9:54 am. The Chief took Command of the incident, and reported a two story house with heavy smoke and fire from several areas of the home. "All Companies In Services" was requested, signifying a major fire.

Engine 1613's driver, Firefighter Bennett, secured a 5" supply hose to a nearby hydrant. Lieutenant Ferrell was the Operations Officer and reported heavy fire from the rear of the home, as well as from the front. Captain J. Clark, and Firefighter C. Clark used hand tools to force open the front door of the home. They attempted to entry into the home, but the heavy smoke and heat pushed them back outside. Then then continued to fight the fire from the outside until additional firefighters arrived on scene.

The next arriving crew was Mount Laurel Engine 3611. The crews from Engine 1613 and 3611 again made an aggressive attack on the fire from the inside of the home. During their attack on the fire, it was determined that the condition of the home was starting to become unstable. Chief Burnett ordered all firefighters to exit the building. Delran Ladder 2315 and Westampton Ladder 2725 were put into service at 10:23 am with heavy water delivery devices. Fire was now through the roof of the home in several areas.

With both ladder trucks in service, the fire was quickly knocked down. This allowed Chief Burnett to place the fire under control at 10:30 am. Minutes later, the crews went back into service with 1 3/4" hose lines from the exterior of the home to finish extinguishing the hot spots. Once the fire was extinguished, the home was reassessed for structural stability, and was deemed safe enough for personnel to enter for an investigation.

All utilities were disconnected from the home by the proper utility companies. One person on scene did receive a minor injury and was treated by an emergency medical crew. The home was condemned by the Willingboro Township Construction Officials Office. An investigation was conducted by the Burlington County and NJ State Fire Marshals Offices. All units were cleared from the scene at 3:24 pm.
