Firefighters Extinguish Fire At Local Business
By Firefighter Mark Robertson Sr.
April 3, 2018
Firefighters from Willingboro and surrounding departments extinguished a trash fire at a local business on the afternoon of March 23rd. Burlington County's 911 center received a call for trash on fire at the Family Dollar store on Route 130. The department was dispatched at 12:10 pm. Deputy Chief Clark arrived in six minutes to find a dumpster and cardboard on a loading dock on fire.
Beverly Fire Department Engine 1224, which had just cleared from an incident in their own jurisdiction, arrived first due and pulled a 1 3/4" hoseline to start extinguishing the fire. Willingboro Engine 1613 arrived next and started to assist with extinguishing the fire. Willingboro Ladder 1615 and Cinnaminson Engine 2021 arrived and proceeded inside the store. Those crews ensured that no fire entered the building, and used large fans to remove smoke that entered inside as a result of the fire.
Fire damage was limited to the dumpster and the cardboard on the loading dock. The Burlington County and NJ State Fire Marshal's Offices were called to investigate the cause of the fire. Willingboro Township Inspections Department was also called to the incident. All fire department units were clear from the scene at 1:27 pm.
