Firefighters from Willingboro and surrounding towns worked to extinguish a house fire in the early morning hours of June 9th. The companies were dispatched at 1:39 am for a house fire at 20 Fleetwood Place. Several callers to 911 and Willingboro Police reported a house heavily involved in fire. During the response, Engine 1613 saw a column of smoke in the sky. At that point Lieutenant Costello requested "All Companies In Service" signifying a major incident.

Engine 1613 and Ladder 1615 arrived on scene at 1:45 am and found fire through the roof above the kitchen, and fire in the garage. The engine connected to a fire hydrant and proceeded to the house. Lt. Costello confirmed that all persons were out of the home as the crew pulled a 2" hoseline to start extinguishing the fire. The Lieutenant also notice the electrical service wire to the house was arcing, and there was an inground pool in the rear yard. All firefighters were made aware of these hazards.

As the Willingboro crew worked on the kitchen and the garage areas, a crew from Beverly Engine 1224 used a 1 3/4" hoseline to start fighting the fire from the rear yard. Once the Willingboro and Beverly crews were sent to the rehab area, crews from Delran Engine 2312 and Moorestown RIC 3111 finished the extinguishment of the fire. Chief of Department was on scene as the Command Officer and was able to place the fire under control at 2:13 am.

Crews spent several hours wetting down hot areas and removing burned debris from the home. The Burlington County Fire Marshal's Office was on scene for the investigation. The fire was found to have been caused by unattended cooking materials on the stove. There were no injuries caused by the fire. The American Red Cross was on scene to assist with temporary housing for the residents. All units were clear from the scene at 5:09 am.
