By Firefighter Mark Robertson Sr.
July 9, 2019

A vehicle parked behind the Kennedy Center sustained heavy damage when it caught fire on the evening of June 27th. The department was dispatched to the fire at 6:31 pm. Engines 1613 and 1612 arrived in six minutes to find a vehicle on fire in the rear of the building. The vehicle had fire coming from the engine and passenger areas.

Firefighter Centrone used a 1 3/4" hoseline to start extinguishing the fire. Firefighter Carcasio used hand tools to assist with opening the hood of the vehicle. Firefighters Bennett and Connelly from Engine 1612 assisted with opening up and extinguishing the fire. It took the crews nine minutes to get the fire under control.

During the process of extinguishing the fire, the owner, who was exercising on the property, was found and stated there were no known mechanical issues. The vehicle had to be towed from the parking lot. All units were clear at 7:22 pm.
