The severe storm that struck the Willingboro area on July 22nd kept Willingboro Firefighters busy until the late evening hours of July 23rd. From 5:45 pm on the 22nd, until 11 pm on the 23rd, the department answered almost 100 calls for service. Most of the calls were for down trees and wires. Fire and EMS personnel also assisted with evacuating some of the residents at the Senior Apartments on Sunset Road.

During the busiest times of the two days Chief of Department Burnett, Deputy Chief Clark, and fully staffed engines 1613, 1612, and 1611 were in service. There were no serious incidents or reports of injuries during the storms.

For residents who still are without power a Cooling Station has been set up at the JFK Center. Water and ice are also available at this location.

Residents who are using portable generators are reminded to use them in a safe manner. Do not use them indoors, and do not leave them running close to your home. A Generator Safety Tip Sheet has been provided for reference.
