Willingboro Firefighters responded to a car on fire in the driveway of a home on the afternoon of February 27th. At 2:09 pm, the department was called to 28 Midvale Lane for smoke coming from a car. Chief of Department Burnett arrived on scene and found a light smoke condition coming from the passenger area.

Engine 1611 arrived on scene and pulled a 1 3/4" hoseline to start extinguishing the fire. Firefighter Bennett started to extinguish the fire as Firefighter Fresco used tools in an attempt to open the driver's door for better access to the fire. When the use of conventional tools failed, the crew used the Jaws of Life to open the door. Chief Burnett was able to place the fire under control at 2:23 pm.

The Burlington County Fire Marshal's Office was called to assist with the investigation as to the cause of the fire. It was determined to be a mechanical failure within the vehicle. All units were available from the incident at 4:15 pm.
