| On Friday, March 1st, members of the department's C Platoon participated in the annual Read Across America event. Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on or near March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books.
Firefighters Jamie Clark, Mark Robertson, Jason Carty, and Jon Blackwell read books to students at W.R. James School, and Firefighter Reed Costello read to students at Garfield East Elementary School. The firefighters read to students in grades from Pre-K up to Second Grade. |
