Willingboro Firefighters were called to assist at a large warehouse fire on Elbow Lane in Burlington Township on the afternoon of August 27th. Rescue Engine 1613 was called at 2:51 pm to act as a Rapid Intervention Crew (RIC) for the incident. A RIC is a specially trained crew of firefighters who are called to large fires. Their purpose is to be a rescue team should any firefighter become lost, trapped, or injured while fighting the fire.

The crew arrived in seven minutes and was assigned a position near the rear of the building. This is a spot where crews from Westampton Emergency Services had made entry into the building to fight the fire. The crew of Engine 1613 broke several windows to help remove smoke from the warehouse, helped move hose into the building for firefighter efforts, and placed a ladder to the roof to assist the units that were working on the roof.

The crew was not used in any type of rescue operation at the incident. Once the incident was under control the crew was released from the scene. Engine 1613 was back in the station at 4:55 pm.
