Retirement of Deputy Chief Jamie Clark

November 30, 2020 marked the end of a 28 year career (21 years full-time and 7 years volunteer time) for Deputy Chief Jamie Clark. Jamie Clark has spent his entire 28-year fire service career with the Willingboro Fire Department. Jamie Clark s married to his wife Michelle and has four children, Logan, Liam, Landon and Laila. Jamie was born in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. His parents moved to Willingboro in December of 1976 just prior to his birth.

While living in Willingboro, Jamie Clark joined the Willingboro Volunteer Fire Company in January 1992 at the age of 16 becoming a Junior Firefighter. He was highly active in the fire company and received recognition for his dedication and commitment to the residents of Willingboro Township. He continuously looked to expand his knowledge in firefighting tactics and Leadership by attending as many training opportunities as possible. During the 7 years that he served the community as a volunteer he served as a station Lieutenant. He has received the following commendations and awards:

• Life Saving Unit Citations
• Life Saving Awards
• Firefighter of the Year Award

In 1999, Jamie Clark was hired provisionally as the fifth full-time firefighter for Willingboro Township. Jamie Clark was given the task of Fire Prevention education for the department. He was instrumental in developing the Willingboro Fire Department Smoke Detector Program working with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and their donated smoke alarms. This program would serve to be the template for other Chapters within the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and their idea of “AKA Alarms” would be brought to other fire departments nationally. In 2004, Jamie Clark had written the narrative for a FEMA grant that the department was awarded for a 38’ Fire Safety Trailer to provide a mobile classroom for up to 30 students with simulated fire safety education demonstrations built into the trailer.

Jamie Clark continued with his fire service education and attained certifications as an EMT, Fire Inspector, Fire Instructor Level II, Incident Management Level II, Active Shooter Incident Management, and other various training programs.

In 2013, Jamie Clark was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and continued as the fire department Fire Prevention Officer.

In 2016, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and oversaw the fire department fleet maintenance. In this capacity, he assisted the Fire Chief with the management of an assigned platoon. This included the development of policy, personnel management, vehicle maintenance and fire prevention budget(s) and capital improvement planning.

In 2017, he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Fire Chief. In this capacity, he assisted the Fire Chief with the management of both the FIRE and EMS departments. This included the development of policy, personnel management, budget and capital improvement planning.

Chief Burnett stated " DC Clark was always the type of person that wanted to do good for the department and community"

The Willingboro FIRE and EMS, Fire Company, and Emergency Squad would like to wish Deputy Chief Jamie Clark a happy and healthy retirement. Congratulations!!
