Firefighters Wear Pink To Support Breast Cancer Awareness Month
By Firefighter Mark Robertson Sr.
October 17, 2009
Willingboro's full-time firefighters are wearing pink Nomex hoods in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The idea was Firefighter Fresco's and was supported by Chief of Department Burnett. Several of the firefighters have a family member or friend affected by Breast Cancer.
A Nomex hood is made of a special fire resistant material. It is designed to protect the head and neck of a firefighter while they are fighting a fire. Each firefighter purchased his own hood to support this endeavor. The hoods were purchased from Jersey Fire and Safety Products of Vineland, NJ.
