April 9, 2010

A small kitchen fire caused damage to a home at 21 Meadowlark Lane on Tuesday, April 6th. The department was dispatched at 12:22 pm for the report of a fire on the stove. Chief of Department Burnett arrived in two minutes and found a two-story home with no smoke or fire visible from the outside. Upon further investigation he could hear smoke detectors sounding inside and smoke coming from the rear of the home.

Engine 1613 arrived three minutes after being dispatched and the crew proceeded inside to further investigate the conditions. They found a small fire that had started on the stove top and was now burning in the cabinets. Firefighter's Fresco and Rydarowski proceeded inside with a 1 3/4" hoseline and were able to quickly extinguish the fire. The rest of the home was filled with smoke, but undamaged by fire.

Chief Burnett placed the fire under control at 12:33 pm. Once the fire was extinguished Firefighter Carcasio entered the home to assist with removing the burned cabinets and stove from the home. The firefighters also turned off the power circuit to the kitchen area.

Willingboro Township's Inspections Department was called to the scene to ensure the remainder of the house was habitable. No civilians or firefighters were injured as a result of the fire and the residents were able to remain in the home. All crews were released from the incident at 1:18 pm.
