Members of Willingboro's Fire, EMS, and Police Departments, along with members of Neighborhood Watch participated in ShopRite's "Help Bag Hunger" event on Wednesday, September 19th. This event is a part of the supermarket's Partners In Caring Program which is a year-round community based hunger fighting initiative. The event took place at the store on John F. Kennedy Way in the Kennedy Plaza.
The initiative is used to raise awareness of those who go hungry. On this day cashiers at the store were collecting donations to help fill the shelves of local community food banks. Since the start of the Partners In Caring Program started in 1999, more than $29 million has been donated to 1,700 hunger relief agencies in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.
Willingboro Fire and EMS personnel spent an hour and a half in the store bagging groceries to help support this cause. Several members of the Police Department and Neighborhood Watch were assisting with the cause throughout the day.
