USFA Announces "Smoking and Home Fires" Campaign
By Firefighter Mark Robertson Sr.
May 27, 2008
The United States Fire Administration (USFA) has announced a campaign aimed at ending the deaths and injuries that occur every year from fires caused by smoking materials in the home. The "Smoking and Home Fires" campaign is designed to reach smokers and their families, community organizations, fire departments, and the news media.
USFA statistics show that around 1,000 people die each year in fires caused by smoking materials. The website for this campaign provides tips to help ensure these types of fires never occur. By checking the website you can also download campaign materials, watch videos, view statistics, and link to the websites of all of the partners involved in this campaign to prevent these types of fires.
For more information about this campaign and a link to the USFA website, please see the Fire Prevention section of our website.
