October 8, 2015

The department's B Platoon was able to quickly extinguish a car that was on fire during the afternoon of October 1st. Fire and EMS units were called to the intersection of Sunset Road and Levitt Parkway at 11:17 am for fire coming from under the hood of the vehicle. Engine 1612 arrived on scene five minutes after being dispatched to the fire. Captain Ramsey reported a vehicle in the roadway with fire coming from the engine compartment.

Firefighter Fresco pulled a 1 3/4" hose line from 1612 and started to extinguish the fire. Firefighters Bowe and E. O'Donnell used hand tools to open the hood and doors of the vehicle. The crew took less than 10 minutes to extinguish the fire. The vehicle suffered damage to the engine and passenger compartments.

The Burlington County Fire Marshal's Office responded to the scene for an investigation. Once the investigation was complete the vehicle was released to the Willingboro Police Department, and towed from the scene. All units were clear of the incident at 12:31 pm.

Units: Engine 1612, Fire Police 1618, and Ambulance 1693
