Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a fire in a car on the evening of May 16th. The department was dispatched to Melville Lane and JFK Way at 6:54 pm. Engine 1613 arrived in four minutes and found a car with a fire in the engine area.
Firefighter Lehuquet pulled a 1 3/4" hoseline as Firefighter Bennett used hand tools to open the hood of the vehicle. Once the hood was open the crew was quickly able to extinguish the fire. Their quick work kept the fire from getting into the passenger area. That area did sustain smoke damage.
Once the fire was extinguished the vehicle was released back to the owner. Engine 1613 was clear from the incident at 7:18 pm
