By Firefighter Mark Robertson Sr.
November 29, 2008

Willingboro firefighters were dispatched to 10 Barnwell Drive at 8:22 am on November 29th for a reported bedroom fire. Within 3 minutes of dispatch Engine 1613 was on location and Captain Sitzenstock reported smoke showing from a second floor window. The captain had his crew pull a 1 3/4" handline and enter the home.

Upon entering the home, Firefighters E. O'Donnell and Fresco found heavy smoke on the second floor of the home. They were able to quickly find and extinguish a small fire that was in a bedroom. The firefighters ventilated the smoke from the second floor of the home and made sure the fire didn't extend into the attic of the home.

Captain Sitzenstock declared the fire under control at 8:32 am. The fire was investigated by FI 161 and is listed as accidental. Two windows in the bedroom had to be boarded up due to being broken during the fire.

Firefighters from Beverly Fire Department were also on scene but were not used due to the small fire. Firefighters from Burlington City were on standby at Willingboro Fire Headquarters while Engine 1613 was on scene. All units were available at 9:37 am.

Units: Chief 1600, Engine 1613, FI 161, and Ambulance 1691
