A fire caused significant damage to a storage building at Brodio Park in the early morning hours of June 1st. Willingboro firefighters were dispatched to the park at 1:42 am, when a resident from Tipton Lane reported a house on fire behind her property. As Engine 1613 was enroute to the area, they were notified that Willingboro Police were on location at the park with a building fully involved in fire.
Captain Sitzenstock arrived with the crew of Engine 1613 and advised the communications center that they had a building with heavy fire showing. Firefighter J. Clark pulled a 2" handline and started to extinguish the fire as Firefighter E. O'Donnell provided back-up on the line. Firefighter's Carty and Blackwell arrived on Ladder 1615 and used hand tools to force open a door and expose areas that might have had hidden fire. Chief Burnett arrived on scene and assumed command of the incident.
The crew was able to quickly extinguish most of the fire. Units from Mount Laurel and Westampton arrived on scene and assisted with overhauling the building. Westampton Engine 2721 also laid several hundred feet of 5" supply hose to a hydrant to provide more water for Engine 1613. The fire was placed under control at 1:55 am.
The building was a total loss as a result of the fire and was scheduled for demolition. The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation by the Willingboro Police Department's Detective Bureau and the Burlington County and NJ State Fire Marshal's Offices. No firefighters were injured during the incident. All units were cleared from the scene at 6:10 am
