June 16, 2009

Willingboro firefighters were able to keep a vehicle fire from completely damaging a home in Pennypacker Park. At 11:59 am on June 16th, Engine 1613 responded to 22 Patriot Lane for a vehicle on fire in the driveway. While enroute Captain Ramsey noticed a large column of smoke rising in the air.

Upon arrival Captain Ramsey reported a vehicle well involved in fire with possibility of the fire igniting the house. Firefighter Rydarowski used a 1 3/4" handline to start extinguishing the fire. He also sprayed water onto the house to help cool the area that was near the fire. Firefighter's Fresco and Robertson assisted with accessing the interior of the vehicle and ensuring the house had not caught on fire.

The crew was able to control the fire in 4 minutes after arriving on scene. Fire completely damaged the vehicle, and caused minor damage to the house. The garage door and some of the vinyl siding on the front of the house. No fire damage was sustained to the house's interior.

While finishing the assignment on Patriot Lane, the crew was sent to an activated fire alarm at a house on Placid Lane. They disconnected the hose from Engine 1613 and responded to the alarm. The crew investigated the alarm and found no hazard. Once the alarm was complete they returned to Patriot Lane to pick up their hose. Engine 1613 was available at 12:45 pm

Units: Engine 1613 and Fire Police 1618
